Gaining the Permission to Push: Creating the Conditions for Academic Rigor series consists of three 2-hour sessions designed to equip educators with strategies to create a meaningful learning environment, and utilize effective student-centered methods, that allow educators to integrate meaningful rigor into their teaching practices.
Session 1: Creating the Conditions for Learning
Objectives:
- Understand the fundamental elements of a conducive learning environment.
- Explore culturally responsive teaching strategies.
- Develop strategies to build strong teacher-student relationships that foster trust and engagement.
Session 2: We Know What Works
Objectives:
- Identify and understand research-based instructional strategies that promote academic success.
- Learn how to implement these strategies effectively in diverse classroom settings.
Session 3: Integrating Meaningful Rigor
Objectives:
- Understand the concept of academic rigor and its importance.
- Learn how to integrate rigor in a way that is meaningful and achievable for all students.
